What was the task?
Our task was to produce a 90 second short film (of our choice) for a website called depict.
Depict is a short film competition where your short film has to be 90 seconds.
What was your idea?
Our idea was a student in college to turn invisible randomly without him knowing why. He is still present however no one can see him nor hear him and his aim is to try and become visible so everyone can see him again.
What planning documentation/processes did you have to complete and how much input did you have? Did you pull your weight?
We categorized ourselves into small groups in our group in which we where good at i.e 2 people in my group drew storyboards as they where good at drawing and me and another wrote the shot list and recces to know where we are going to film.Once we knew what we was going to film we then organized ourselves again to see who would be doing what in the filming process. All of us carried our weight roughly as we finished in time, However my big problem during this recording was my attendance as I was off some days without alerting the rest of my group.
Did your finished work reflect the planning you had completed?
Our finished work didn't meet up to expectation to me due to the fact we missed shots off due to running out of time so we had to cut shots out and try to do them at the end which we wasn't able to do for all of the shots we planned. This also caused problems with the viewing of it as when i watched back over at the start it didn't make much sense what was going on which as a film crew you don't want to happen.
What changed did you make from your planning and why?
Originally our plan was a completely different short film however we changed it quickly due to locations which we was unable to get to and timing of it all. Our film was going to be about bullying and how the bully you think is just full of hatred actually is getting bullied as well and has a harsh time at home as well. So we was trying to show 'you don't know what happens behind closed doors'. However due to us needing a house and parental figures we was not able to film it so we adapted to our current one about a student being invisible.
What do you think is the most successful aspect of the project? Screenshot 2 still frames from your depict and explain what is happening.
I think our most successful part of the short film was that we did it in the time frame despite us changing our shot list twice and editing all the shots so it went into order.
Still frame 1 - wonders why they're ignoring him
Still frame 2 - Realize hes invisible when he looks in mirror
